Understanding Iran’s Intentions

Iran’s attack on Israel with over 300 missiles and drones was unprecedented, and the first direct military action against Israel by a sovereign state since the First Gulf War of 1991. Iran is also the head of the multi-tentacled “resistance axis” which includes Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and others, sowing chaos and violence across the region.
The Begin Center welcomes renowned Iran expert Dr. Meir Javedanfar to discuss Iran’s intentions behind this historic attack, as well as the regime’s wider objectives in this post-October 7 Middle East.
Dr. Javedanfar is an Iranian-Israeli lecturer, author, and commentator. He has been teaching Iranian politics at Reichman University in Herzliya since 2012. He is the co-author of the first biography of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, “The Nuclear Sphinx of Tehran,” and has published many articles on Iran and Iran-related matters for publications such as Foreign Affairs, Al Monitor, The Diplomat, The Guardian and others. He has given lectures at over 20 universities and briefed officials and academics from more than 30 countries on Iran. He has a PhD from Haifa University.
This event will be a webinar, available on Zoom.
