"Long Is The Road To Freedom" in New Hebrew Edition
The Begin Center co-published a new Hebrew edition of Yaakov Meridor's memoirs, "Long is the Road to Freedom", upon the initiative of his daughter, Rachel Kremmerman. The Center, due to Ms. Kremmerman's generosity, will be distributing a gratis copy of the book to the libraries of 700 schools in Israel.
Parshat HaShavua Series Ends
The weekly Thursday evening lectures on the Biblical portion of the week, Parshat HaShavua, sponsored by the Rohr Family Foundation, has come to an end for this Hebrew year. It will begin again, after the High Holiday/Succot season in October.
The lectures by Dr. Shelly Goldberg on the Book of Numbers, BaMidbar, attracted weekly crowds of over 300.

1. The Legacy Heritage Fund, in conjunction with the Global Law Forum at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA), the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, and the South African Zionist Federation in Israel (Telfed) presents: "Combating Israel 's Delegitimization: Debunking the Apartheid Myth", A panel discussion (in English)
The event will take place at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, 6 Nahon Street, Jerusalem on Sunday 18 July 2010, 6:00pm
The evening will begin with brief introductory remarks given by the Chairperson of Telfed, Maish Isaacson, who will also introduce the moderator, David Horovitz, of the Jerusalem Post. This introduction will be followed by a short, edited, video clip (8 min) in which former MK Azmi Bishara explains why he thinks that Israel is indeed an "apartheid state."
Following the video, each of the panelists - Prof. Gideon Shimoni, Amb. Dore Gold and DJ Schneeweiss - will be provided with the opportunity to speak for 15-20 minutes, during which time the moderator will be able to pose questions to the panelists.
Having completed this segment of the evening, we will open the floor to questions.

2. Opening of the Uri Tzvi Greenberg "Im Malchus Fun Tselem" Exhibit
On Wednesday evening, July 28, in coordination with the Uri Tzvi Greenberg Heritage House, an exhibit of paintings and illustrations created for the new Hebrew-Yiddish edition of the poet's 1922 great epic, Im Malchus Fun Tselem (In the Kingdom of the Cross), will be opened and will be on view until the end of August.
The program includes a screening of sections of the choral cantata performed a few years ago and composed by Israel Prize winner Daniel Galai, Greetings fby Education Minister Limor Livant and Greenberg House Chairperson Geula Cohen as well as lectures by Prof. Avarahm Noverstein and Prof. Yehuda Friedlander.

3. Begin Birthday Event Marking Menachem Begin's 97th Birthday
On Thursday, 11 Av 5770 - July 22, 2010, the Begin Center, in cooperation with the Irgun Museum of 1948, Bet Gidi, an event marking Begin's 97th birthday entitled "His Life's Song".
The museum is located on the Promenade at 15 Nahum Goldman St. Video clips and photographs will be shown in addition to the music.
The evening will begin at 19:00 with a tour through the museum. At 20:00, Yitzchak Meltzer will open the event followed by remarks by Tzvika Eden of the Ministry of Defense Museum Branch. Galila Ron-Feder, who authored the recent biography of Menachem Begin will then speak. Herzl Makov, Begin Center Head will introduce the evening's music led by Raquellya and her ensemble. Free entrance.
