Berty is Prof. Avraham Diskin, 7th generation Jerusalemite from his father Shimon's side. His family included outstanding Rabbis including the scholar Hamaharil Diskin. The lion sculptures outside the Machaneh Yehudah police station are the work of another family member, Shlomo Simcha Diskin-Yaniover. His mother, Groniya (nee Gratzkov), born in Russia was a childhold prodigy artist and art instructor, a student of the Betzalel School.
Berty's family lost its fortune but retained its cultural and spirtual wealth. He is a professor of Political Science and a consultant who also appears on the media. In addition, he works with illustration, sculpture and writing, including two satirical books.
His paintings are done with oil, charcoal and pastel and he sculpts in clay and bronze.
This latest exhibition includes scenes, portraits, Judaica and abstract with "Lost Dignity" and "Flames" on the theme of the Holocaust.
The exhibition is open to the public from December 24, 2009 until January 31, 2010 and is located on the second floor.
